04 ~ On the Other Side of the Field [Video/Action]

[Today, people might notice something different about Zuko. As soon as she wakes up, she notices there's something not right. This isn't her room, and these clothes too big for her. What in the world is going on? And wings? And journals? And what?

The video feed will start and those watching will notice that Zuko has longer hair and a distinctly more feminine face and voice.]

Would someone mind telling me what's going on here? Where am I?

[Yes, Zuko is now a girl. And doesn't even remember ever being a guy. As far as she knows, she just got here.

Eventually, she'll wander out of her room and start looking around the house. Wearing these clothes that just don't fit her at all. Needless to say, she'll need to make a trip to town to get something a bit more appropriate. So she can be find wandering around the village and eventually at the clothing shop.]

[...wait a minute, was that who he thought it was? She couldn't possibly be anyone else could she? And yet... she seemed to be speaking as though she was a new arrival. Hmm...

Have a rather bemused looking Spirit addressing your video, Ms. Zuko!]

You are in Luceti... have you just arrived? I see you already know how to use your journal.

[A pause, before he adds.] What is your name?

I guess so? I've never been here before but I somehow already knew how to use this thing.

[Weird but whatever.]

My name is Zuko. Who are you?

Then you are still Zuko...

[A Shift then, he can only imagine. But it doesn't seem as though she remembers her true identity, not does she remember who he was. This was going to make things rather... awkward.]

I am Eleytheria, the Wind Spirit. You do not recall our meeting?

What do you mean I'm still Zuko?

[She's always been Zuko!]

No, I don't.

[Sokka is actually up reasonably early today and is hanging around in the common room upstairs, and he's doing some pretty intense reading. He hasn't gotten to Zuko's marvelous post quite yet, but he's catching up on things of his own now that he's back in the house more often and isn't scrambling out the window before anyone wakes up.

When he hears steps coming down the hallway, Sokka looks only barely out of the corner of his eye, and upon a very cursory look, everything seems completely normal. Without much more than that extremely weird glance, Sokka returns his attention to the book in front of him.]

Morning, Zuko.

Sokka?

[That's not Zuko's normal voice. And then suddenly he'll have a girl running over to him and hugging him!]

You're here too? I'm so glad to see you!

[Somewhere deep in Sokka's head, the voice registers as being different. That's not Zuko's voice. Was it actually Zuko? Could it have been someone else? But it was Zuko's clothing? But Zuko's scar was there; who else could it be? His reading is pretty much interrupted as it is as he ponders some deep questions, though he looks up only just in time to see... this... person... come over and hug him.]

[Sokka sees the scar on the side of her face... so it has to be Zuko. But this isn't Zuko! There are... things where there should not be. And then that voice. It finally dawns upon Sokka that there is a girl in front of him, giving him a tight hug.]

Not Zuko! Not Zuko!

[Sokka has no idea what the heck is going on, but he is not going to have it. Sokka wriggles out of Zuko's embrace, scrambles sideways along the couch and flips over the arm of the couch in a fluid motion. Now on the floor, Sokka peers barely over the arm with deep suspicion and a very defensive posture.]

[Zuko stares in shock as Sokka wiggles away and then trips over the side of the couch. She then frowns and folds her arms.]

Of course I'm Zuko. Who else would I be?

[Not you too Sokka.]

Ah, well...

[This was suddenly even more awkward. Even if he explained it to her, would she even believe him? And just how much detail should he go into anyway?

It's obvious the Spirit feels a little uncertain now, but he soon speaks up again.]

The Zuko I knew used to be a... male.

[There's a pause.]

So you're saying I'm supposed to be a guy?

[She frowns deeply, clearly not amused.]

That's impossible!

[If this is some kind of joke, it's not very funny.]

In Luceti, many things that seem impossible are suddenly possible. I do not want to confuse you further but... it is entirely possible that some changes have come about in you as a result of this place.

Even so... I am sure you are still the same Zuko at heart. Outward appearances do not matter to me.

[Not that he's saying you're anything bad to look at of course Zuko but... you know, a human's a human. Ahem.]

[She's not really looking all that convinced. After all, she's only ever remembered being a girl. What if Luceti made her a guy? What then?

But the fact that Eley doesn't seem to care either way, appeases her a little bit.]

So... how well do you know me?

[Of course it was quite feasible that she should think that with only Eley's word to go on. There was no point arguing about it in any case, she was who she was at this point. Instead, the Spirit will focus on her question.]

We became good friends since you first arrived. I know that you are a firebender - the Fire Lord of a Fire Nation in another world. That you had a troubled past... an abusive father... yet you eventually sided with the Avatar to bring peace to your world and rectify your mistakes.

You also taught me a technique known as the Dancing Dragon.

[Hearing that, Zuko is visibly stunned. How could this person possibly know all of that? And she taught him the Dancing Dragon? Not many people could do that either.]

Okay... I believe you.

[Yes, him too. Sorry, friend, but the Zuko he knows isn't supposed to have boobs and willingly go around hugging everyone in sight. ~~He's too emotionally scarred for that.~~

Though the question is certainly a difficult one to answer.]

Uh... a pretty bad attempt at a Zuko impersonator?

Look... I don't know if you're just really confused or if this is karma coming to pay me back for eating meat again, but last I checked, Zuko wasn't... wasn't...

[He gestures wildly at Zuko's very feminine form.]

[~~Good job, Sokka. You've probably caused her to be hyperconcerned about her weight again.~~]

[Aang is in the middle of the common room, clipping his toenails. While Momo is flittering about and collecting the clippings.]

[Asami is just leaving the kitchen when she stumbles across this ~~new and improved~~ young Firelord Zuko. The familiar smile she raises in greeting falls quickly and her eyes widen as she actually gets a good look at her housemate.]

...Zuko? What happened?!

[Immediately she worries that another shift is happening; she's still trying to recoup from the last one.]

[Now Zuko is more than a little annoyed and is openly glaring at Sokka.]

How can you say that! I AM Zuko!

[Her eyes then widen at his last statement and she clenches her fists angrily.]

Are you saying I'm fat?!

[She's definitely short tempered like the Zuko he knows. And hey, she doesn't hug EVERYONE, just certain people! Like her friends! Sokka being one of them. Or so she thought. Gosh.]

[When she comes into the room and spots Aang, her eyes lighting up. Relieved and glad to see one of her friends. Though that look fades quickly when she realizes what he's doing.]

Ugh, Aang that's disgusting!

[When she comes into the kitchen and hears her name, she's glad to hear that someone here recognizes her for who she is.]

I woke up here and my clothes are too big!

[She emphasizes this by holding out her arms to show what she means. But what a minute.]

Who are you?

I.... I see that...Do you, uh....feel okay?

[Even his voice was feminine.. She did her best not to stare, and answered his question easily..]

I'm Asami... ? One of your friends.

I feel fine.

[She folds her arms with a frown, scrutinizing Asami for a moment.]

Really? But I've never met you before.

[Yeah, she doesn't remember anything from Luceti.]

Thank you...

[It was reassuring to know that she still believed him despite the apparent changes. She might not remember, but being called a liar would have hurt Eley even more.]

These changes are usually temporary, so I am sure you will be back to your true self before long. Until then... you are still my friend, Zuko. Should you wish to do something together, I would not object

[He'll just... have to get used to the new you, that's all.]

I am my true self. To me anyway.

[She huffs a little.]

What if I don't want to be a guy.

[She grumbles a little more, not at all liking the idea that she's supposed to be a girl. But the fact that she woke up in a room with clothes that would fit a boy, kinda supported that case. But Eley is being very nice, she... she'll try not to take it out on him.]

... What would you like to do?

What, I do this all the time! [But something about that voice sounds oddly... different then the voice he was expecting. So he slowly looks up and-]

Wait, what?
