04 ~ On the Other Side of the Field [Video/Action]

[Today, people might notice something different about Zuko. As soon as she wakes up, she notices there's something not right. This isn't her room, and these clothes too big for her. What in the world is going on? And wings? And journals? And what?

The video feed will start and those watching will notice that Zuko has longer hair and a distinctly more feminine face and voice.]

Would someone mind telling me what's going on here? Where am I?

[Yes, Zuko is now a girl. And doesn't even remember ever being a guy. As far as she knows, she just got here.

Eventually, she'll wander out of her room and start looking around the house. Wearing these clothes that just don't fit her at all. Needless to say, she'll need to make a trip to town to get something a bit more appropriate. So she can be find wandering around the village and eventually at the clothing shop.]

[Hearing her name, Zuko turns and looks to see a girl she doesn't know. So she just blinks at Korra in confusion. Though that confusion turns to a frown and folded arms really quickly.]

Yes. I. AM. What is it with everyone around here! Is it so weird to see me as a girl! I'M NOT A GUY! I've always been a girl!

[She points at Korra.]

So are you going to tell me now that you know me and that I should be a guy too!

[Nevermind that Korra probably knows more than anyone in the house right now that Zuko is definitely a guy. Or is supposed to be. But then she doesn't know that.]

Actually, yeah, that's almost exactly what I was going to say. [ I mean, come on. Korra's just spent several days dating guy Zuko and now there's a girl Zuko standing in the house? What was she supposed to say? ]

Well you haven't always been a girl here! You've definitely been a guy and- [ wait what was that last part ] You don't know who I am?

[This is getting more and more distressing. Everyone knows her as a guy, and to her she's always been a girl. But she tries to retain some semblance of emotional control by being huffy about it.]

No. Should I?

[ This was a predicament that Korra could never have expected. For a moment she looked conflicted, before finally spitting out words. ]

Yes. No. Well, yes! Guy you knows me. [ Yeah, this was definitely awkward. She gives a little groan of annoyance before trying to explain. ]

Okay, even if you have always been a girl somehow that doesn't change the fact that there was a guy version of you living here before. You don't have any memories of his?

[Okay fine. She has a point there. The facts are that there was a guy version of her here before. The big clothes and guy things in her room were proof enough of that. But she still doesn't like it. So she huffs, her lip sticking out a bit in a pout, but she seems willing to listen at least.]

No, I don't.

[ Oh man. Korra's conflicted; on one hand this Zuko doesn't know her, so she doesn't know about the whole dating thing or any of the awkwardness after it. That was sort of nice. ]

[ But at the same time, after everything they'd been through and suddenly she's faced with a Zuko that doesn't remember it or her? What a jerk. ]

[ Well, that could wait. ]

My name's Korra. You know, the Avatar.

[ Because putting in something like that was a sure way to see if this Zuko had any other similarities to the Zuko she knew. ]

[Zuko gives Korra a dubious look.]

Look, I'm not stupid. I'm friends with Aang. He's the real Avatar.

[ ha HA! So this Zuko still had at least some of the same basic knowledge as their Zuko. Although the "real Avatar" comment stings a little, she still looks triumphant at getting this far at least. ]

Yeah, he's the Avatar before me, actually. So before you ask, yes, this place is weird.

[ And then she gets an even weirder thought. ]

Wait, so you're saying Aang is a guy but you're not?

[Zuko blinks at this. She's the Avatar after Aang? And yep, Korra beats her to the punch as far as commenting about it's weirdness. Though the next comment makes her frown deeply.]

What, Aang's supposed to be a girl now?

No, no, Aang is a guy. But I figured since our Zuko is a guy and our Aang is a guy, your Aang would be a girl since you're a girl.

[ She doesn't sound very sure of her own logic, here. ]

[Zuko sighs in exasperation and rolls her eyes.]

Well he's not. Sokka isn't a girl either. And Katara and Toph aren't guys, okay?

How'd you know I was gonna ask about them next?

[ But the annoyance makes her laugh- she can't help it. Actually, speaking of Sokka and Katara- ]

Have they seen you like this? I mean, here?

It was a good guess. ... Actually Sokka kinda asked the same thing.

[She was getting the same reactions and questions left and right. It's starting to get annoying.]

So yeah, Sokka and Aang have.

You've got to realize that there are some questions that are gonna come up a few times.

[ Still, the more she thinks about this the more she starts to feel a little concerned. ]

Hey, uh, what do you think you'll do if you run into our Zuko? Guy Zuko? [ Because she doesn't seem to think that they're actually the same person, just changed somehow. This Zuko didn't have the other Zuko's memories, after all, so Korra can only imagine this is somehow some other kind of Zuko. ]

[Yeah, she's kinda realized that. Doesn't mean she has to like it though.]

Wait, what? He's actually here? Now?

[Nobody had actually said THAT. Oh man.]

He's got to still be around here somewhere, right? [ She pauses before adding an amendment. ] I mean, not here here, but in Luceti somewhere still. I haven't seen him around much, lately.

If it helps I... think I woke up in his room?

[She can't imagine who's room it was otherwise. But maybe that would make some sense to Korra?]

Why haven't you seen much of him lately?

Maybe he... wasn't there last night? [ He'd spent nights with that spirit she'd heard about before, after all. As for the second question she looks a little like a deer caught in the headlights for a moment before recovering and remembering to answer. ]

Uh, we sort of had kind of a fight. Kind of.

[ She's so clear. ]

[A... fight? Well, she guesses that would explain why Korra hadn't seem him. She wouldn't want to be around someone she had a fight with either. ... After all, this is her male counterpart they're talking about.]

What did you fight about?
